Mwikuta is the first of seven Alabama scholarship players who took to the transfer portal this week to announce their new school. Mwikuta will play for Red Wolves second-year coach Butch Jones, who served as an analyst and special assistant to coach Nick Saban between 2018 and 2020.

Mwikuta is the third former Alabama player to transfer to a Group 5 school in recent weeks. Wide receiver Xavier Williams chose Utah State, while linebacker Jackson Bratton was traded to UAB.

Mwikuta, one of five Alabama linebackers who recently entered the portal, played primarily on special teams the past three seasons in Tuscaloosa. He also entered the portal last summer before opting to stay with the team.
