343 Industries chief designer Jerry Hook has Announced A series of big changes are coming to the in-game microtransaction store that allows players to purchase cosmetics for their Halo Infinite multiplayer Spartan, weapons, and vehicles. Specifically, these changes will arrive on January 18, 2022, the same day the Halo Infinite Cyber Showdown event begins.
According to Hook’s description, the goal of these changes is to reduce the price of most items while offering more value and allowing players to purchase previously bundle-exclusive items individually. “We’re focused on driving down prices across the board, providing stronger values in our bundles, starting to put individual items out of bundles and more,” Hook said. “We’ll be trying new things for the rest of the season (Halo Infinite Season 1) so we can keep learning and improving for the future.”
One of the main reasons many have felt Halo Infinite’s customization options are unacceptably shallow is because the items in its microtransaction store have generally been expensive and lackluster, so it’s great to see 343 Industries address the issue. directly. It will be interesting to see how the studio continues to improve the store and hopefully the developers will get to a point where the community is satisfied with the state of the store.
Halo Infinite multiplayer is free to play and available on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One consoles, and Windows PC. It’s a lot of fun and, along with the Halo Infinite campaign, it’s easily one of the best Xbox games available right now.
