Kavanaugh and Roberts lacked ‘backbone’ on vax mandate

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said Supreme Court Justices John Roberts and Brian Kavanaugh lacked “backbone” for not overturning the Biden administration’s mandate to vaccinate health care workers.

In two rulings on Thursday, the nation’s top court struck down the Biden administration’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate for big business, but upheld its mandate for most healthcare workers.

Roberts and Kavanaugh sided with the court’s liberal justices, upholding the mandate to vaccinate healthcare workers, five to four.

“Honestly, Roberts and Kavanaugh didn’t have a backbone on this decision. It’s just the end result,” DeSantis said in an episode of the right-wing podcast Ruthless.

DeSantis said Florida would not enforce the mandate to vaccinate healthcare workers, which he said would sideline nurses who have natural immunity to COVID-19.

“In other states they have laid off unvaccinated nurses. A lot of them have natural immunity to previous infections. So they are bringing COVID-positive nurses back to work. ‘don’t stop…Meanwhile, healthy, unvaccinated nurses, likely immune to previous infection, are on the sidelines, fired?’, DeSantis said.

DeSantis also fired a shot at the president’s chief medical adviser, Anthony Fauci, who initially denied to Congress that the National Institutes of Health had funded gain-of-function bat coronavirus research in Wuhan. , in China, before admitting and defending it later.

“Fauci funded them at the lab in Wuhan and he lied about it. And why isn’t he being prosecuted for lying to Congress? DeSantis asked.
