Tesla Cybertruck production to start Q1 2023: Report

Production of the Tesla Cybertruck will begin in the first quarter of 2023, people familiar with the matter said Reuters.

The source claimed that Tesla is changing features and functionality in the Cybertruck to make it more compelling as other pickup trucks, such as the Rivian R1T and Ford F-150 Lightning, are joining the segment. It is said that production of the Tesla Cybertruck in the first quarter of 2023 will be limited before production ramps up.

Elon Musk is expected to present a product roadmap to shareholders during his fourth-quarter 2021 earnings call. His product update will give a clear and official timeline for Cybertruck production. Tesla will place its next earnings call on Wednesday, January 26 at 4:30 PM ET (5:30 PM ET).

Before the end of 2021, Tesla removed references to a 2022 Cybertruck truck production date. Previously, the Cybertruck order page stated that customers could “complete (your) configuration as production approaches 2022.” As the new year dawned, Tesla removed the phrase “in 2022” from the order page. During his interview in The Wall Street JournalAt a CEB summit last month, Elon Musk also stated that production of Cybertruck will begin around 2023.

“The Cybertruck is going to be a great product. I think it might be the best product we’ve ever had. I think it probably will. It has a lot of new technology, so it’s hard to make. I bet it would be great. I think I said that before, but we’re aiming to Increase production in 2023. I’ll provide more detailed product updates on Tesla’s earnings call early next year. I hope it’s soon, but that’s probably when it happens. “It’s going to be something really special, like one of those Rare products that happen once in a while and that’s really special.”

In its Q2 2021 update message, Tesla reports that it is making progress on manufacturing the Cybertruck. At the time, the company stated that the Cybertruck was in its initial stages. Tesla plans to move to the experimental stages of the Cybertruck by late 2021. Sightings of the Alpha Cybertruck with updated parts were reported later in the year.

Currently, Tesla appears to be focusing on Model Y production in the Giga Texas and Giga Berlin. Tesla’s new Gigafactories are expected to start production this year, pending approval by local authorities. Tesla Giga Texas will produce the e-truck after expanding production of the Model Y.
